After launching the "nghe" episode 2: "Dyeing shirts at home" with natural materials (natural-dye), TimTay received a lot of positive feedback from those who were interested and wanted to have a workshop to experience this interesting technique together. We decided to organize a workshop: Natural dyeing on silk scarves.
In December 2021 - a full year after the success of the FW20 collection, TimTay launched the FW21 collection with 12 designs exclusively for Women.
Many details on the designs are reused from leftover fabric during the FW20 production process, creating a sustainable "circle" in fashion.
On this occasion, we would like to bring you back to the original values of nature, experience with you an environmentally friendly fabric dyeing technique, hoping to contribute to conveying a slower, greener and more sustainable lifestyle.
TimTay Workshop: Natural dyeing on silk scarves
In the cozy space of TimTay Phu My Hung at the end of the year, we invite you to visit to have the opportunity to admire the newly displayed collection, experience the joy of dyeing fabric and create and dye 2 silk scarves yourself from natural materials.
Brief introduction to natural dyeing:
Natural dyeing is a technique widely used in most ancient civilizations in the world such as India, China, Egypt. For example, in China, dyeing with plants, bark and insects has been around for more than 5,000 years.
Most natural dyes are derived from plants such as roots, berries, bark, leaves, flowers, wood and other organic sources such as mushrooms and lichens. Depending on geographical and weather conditions, each locality will have different types of typical plant materials.
Bundle Dye
In the workshop, we will introduce to you the Bundle Dye technique. This is a dyeing technique that uses plant-based materials such as flowers, leaves, and vegetables to dye silk fabric.
With this dyeing technique, you can dye an item of your own at home by taking advantage of leftover vegetables in the kitchen cupboard.
